An Every Day Moment Became An Extraordinary Memory

There is something so special about getting to know your kids. From the moment you lock eyes with them, you begin a journey of getting to know them and their personality. You get to discover who they are and see glimpses of who they’ll become.

Each of my boys have such unique personalities. I’ve learned that every child really is a gift because you don’t know exactly what you’re getting. Just like any gift, your child will surprise you. Every day is a new adventure and every moment a treasure.

My most recent favorite moment happened the other morning. Instead of praying alone, I sat down on the floor and called my two oldest boys over. Placing them on my lap and wrapping my arms around them, I had them close their eyes.  Then we began to pray together for Daddy while he was at work, our church family and those who lost loved ones and have been affected by a recent hurricane in Texas.

The last thing we prayed for was our day. We prayed that mommy would have patience and that we would listen to each other and be obedient. After we said amen, both of my boys hugged and kissed me. Being overwhelmed and blessed I felt very thankful I woke up that morning to three beautiful boys. Two of which are only three and two years old and were willing to sit still long enough for a prayer.

It was so peaceful. I think I’m going to try and do that every morning. It’s easy to forget to include our children in the everyday moments. However, I find when you make them a part of the things that are easier to do alone, you make those everyday moments into extraordinary memories.

WHAT IS A MOMENT YOU RECENTLY SHARED WITH YOUR LITTLE?

  1. We recently saw a short film (10 minutes) and it was my son’s first “movie.” He was so happy and excited and insisted on holding my hand through the whole thing. Love it!
