Fall is my favorite season! I love the smell in the air and the cooler days. Well here in Phoenix it’s still about 85 degrees, but it’s still cooler than summertime.

Even though it’s not as cold like it is in other parts of the country, I still like to dress for the season. Casual, comfortable and modest. Modesty is an issue I haven’t really covered on my blog, but I hope to make this post the kick off for that.

In this look, I’m wearing my new favorite thing! My favorite father in law bought me this super lightweight and soft felt hat. He always spoils me, I think it’s because he is so happy my husband married me. Not that I’m anything special, but the Bible does say “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing: and obtaineth favor of the Lord.” Proverbs 18:22 ……So there’s that.

This hat makes me feel mysterious. What I love about hats is that when I need to run out with my kids I can easily cover up my bed head haha! Not that I don’t brush it, sometimes as a mama we just need a quick fix.

This plaid top I have on is from JcPenny and it reminds me of fall. As soon as I saw it, it shouted “Hey Katherine! I would look lovely on you”. I had to agree after I tried it on and felt the soft fabric. Being a mom and having to chase after three boys means I need something comfy to run in. Which is also a reason I don’t wear heels.

The skirt I have on is actually from Goodwill. For those that don’t know, I’m a die hard thrift chick who loves a bargain. Which is why I’ve gone ahead and found skirts similar to the one I have at different price points. My goodwill skirt is by Larry Levine denim. Its a dark denim a line flare skirt and I bought it for $2.99! My hat was $22, my top was $44 and my shoes were $15. So this whole look was less than $85!

Speaking of those shoes, they are by Chinese Laundry and I got them at Ross. They’ve been another one of my favorite items to wear. They’re suede but have a elastic strap across the foot that makes them form fit and feel amazing. At $15 they were pretty much a STEAL especially when they retail for much more.

I love these pieces because the skirt and hat are very versatile. They can work with many outfits. I can truly say this outfit makes me feel comfortable and put together. It’s simple and sophisticated. I feel confident in it and nothing completes an outfit like confidence.

Feel free to shop this look below. I’ve linked all the items I’m wearing and a few similar finds.

  1. I am loving your outfit – and how you maintain your modesty while still looking fab! I would love to get a hat like yours! It just dropped down to the 30s in MI though so beanies for this mama! XO

  2. Gorgeous outfit! I love fall colors and clothing…it’s so comfy and cute! It’s still in the 70s here at the beach, so sadly I haven’t been able to break my fall-wear out yet.
