Somehow having two toddlers has led to my house being over run with toys. Seriously I have about every type of toy you could think of. Yes I am grateful my boys have grandparents and aunties who love to buy them gifts. However all of these toys don’t always get played with. My toddlers are 1 and 2 years old so this gift list is fit for those in that age category.
So here is a list of toys that my toddlers actually like and play with often. These are also toys that I approve of … which means toys that won’t necessarily kill you if accidentally stepped on in the night. (Your welcome)

Here Are the Top Ten Toys that Toddlers Will Actually Play With:
This is great for kiddos learning about animals and those who are learning about hide and seek. What I love about this are the doors. They open to reveal the animal and they are held onto the board so there’s no pieces that can get lost like a puzzle.
These are awesome and both my boys love them. The 1 and under crowd will enjoy sticking the pieces together while the 2-3 year old’s will prefer to use their imagination to build things. My oldest son Harland (2 yrs) built a plane with wings and everything out of these blocks. Its safe to say this is a no brainer for little boys.
Okay I have to admit I bought this one for my son. I can’t blame an Auntie or a Grandma this time. I can proudly say this was one of the best toy purchases I have ever made. I bought this for Harland’s 1st birthday and he is about to be 3. This has been used daily by both my boys. They love it. They use it inside and outside. My oldest is starting to get a little big for it so I suggest it for toddlers walking age to 2 1/2 years old.
This is great for tots just learning their alphabet. Both of my sons LOVE Elmo…maybe even more then me! There’s just something about that high pitched voice and his googly eyes. Good thing because this on the go letters set comes in a handy carrying case with our beloved Elmo on the cover. GREAT for toddlers 2+
Play Doh is a MUST for little hands. It helps toddlers develop fine motor-skills and it builds their creativity. I let my boys play with play doh almost daily. If you are worried about them eating it, don’t. My youngest still takes a lick from time to time but after one taste he is repulsed by it. Both my boys enjoy rolling the dough into little balls or using special play doh toys like the ones below to make impressions in the dough.
I love these! I actually keep these in a clear box. When we play with play doh I pull out my box of toys and gadgets and my boys go crazy. I like playing with them too. I flatten the play doh into a disc and let the kids make patterns with the rollers in this kit. Or they will cut out play doh shapes with the play doh cutters.
This is a simple but engaging toy for any boy. My boys both loved pushing the ball through to see it pop back into the truck. My 1 year old would do this again and again. He loved seeing the truck light up whenever he would push the ball through.
These were popular when my mom was little, when I was little and I don’t think they are going anywhere. My oldest enjoys all the animal sounds and will repeat after them. His favorite part would always be the song, if you land on the musical notes it plays “The Farmer in the Dell”.
Even boys like to play dress up. Mine wear their firefighter hats around the house all the time. This awesome set of play clothes are durable and will add another layer to imaginative play.
Last but not least a set of matchbox cars. Oh how I have underestimated these little guys. As my oldest grows he can often be found with a car in hand, driving over the hills and valleys of our couch. I love these because they can fit in the diaper bag or little pockets. They are great to keep the tots occupied while in waiting rooms or in the car.
There you have it! A great list of toys toddler boys will love to play with. If you are looking for toys that don’t sit untouched or a great gift for the grandkids I hope you found this helpful.
